The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) held a symposium on April 29 to discuss the measures to implement the spirit of the important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping and decisions and arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The symposium also
explored how to better give full play to the role of female entrepreneurs in promoting epidemic prevention and control and work and production resumption.
Shen Yueyue, President of the ACWF, delivered a speech at the symposium.
Shen urged the participants to adjust the focus of work in response to changes in the epidemic situation, take meticulous and effective measures to promote the work and production resumption, and contribute to winning the battle against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and promoting economic and social development.
During the meeting, representatives from ACWF's group members, including the Women Workers' Committee of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the China Association of Women Entrepreneurs and the China Women's Chamber of Commerce of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, female entrepreneurs and officials of the Beijing Women's Federation introduced how they participated in COVID-19 prevention and control amid the epidemic outbreak, and shared their useful measures and experience in assisting women entrepreneurs to resume work and production and achieve target outputs. They also analyzed the current difficulties faced by the enterprises and explored relevant solutions.
Shen spoke highly of the efforts of the group members of the ACWF and women entrepreneurs in the battle against COVID-19 and the promotion of social and economic development.
Shen stressed that the participants should continue studying and implementing the spirit of the important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping, fully understand that the trajectory of the Chinese economy toward more steady growth in the long run has not changed, and strengthen the analysis and prediction of the changes in the global epidemic situation as well as the economic development at home and abroad. Women's key role in winning the decisive victory in the battle against poverty and clinching a complete victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects were emphasized.
Shen urged female entrepreneurs to further unleash entrepreneurial spirit, lead their enterprises to overcome difficulties, and make greater contributions to boosting social and economic development. Efforts should be made to make full use of national policies to relieve the pressure of financial strain, decrease in orders and hindered supply chains, and to speed up the resumption of work and production so as to achieve target outputs.
Shen noted that female entrepreneurs should expand new markets, unleash internal potential, stick to innovation-oriented development, give impetus to transformation and upgrading, improve the core competence of enterprises and achieve high-quality development.
Women entrepreneurs were urged to work closely with the government to offer steady jobs to female university students, laid-off women and rural impoverished women, organize employment training and give guidance on how to start businesses, and serve the women and society.
Women's federations should better guide, serve and contact women entrepreneurs, help solve their difficulties, and play a bigger role in assisting work and production resumption. Enhanced efforts should be made to cooperate with government departments in building platforms of policy publicity, employment training and financial services so as to help enterprises solve their problems.
Women's federations were urged to strengthen the coordination with social force and the associations of women entrepreneurs, the women's chambers of the federations of industry and commerce and other group members of the women's federations, in a bid to deepen the connection between manufacturers and distributors and help enterprises achieve target outputs and improve efficiency.
Shen stressed that women's federations should guide women to participate in specialty industries, including hand-weaving, housekeeping service, rural e-commerce and rural tourism, provide female entrepreneurs and workers with caring services such as psychological counseling, health guidance and family education, contributing to the steady development of the enterprises.
Shen concluded that the ACWF will continue supporting its group members and make joint efforts to serve women and the country's overall interests.
Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, presided over the symposium.
